Biography

Giacomo Branca is currently Associate Professor of Agriculture and Resource Economics and Policy at Tuscia University (Viterbo, Italy) and Adjunct Professor of Food Policy at the American University of Rome. He also teaches Rural Development at the International Institute for International Studies (ISPI, Milan) within the MA Program in Development studies.

He coordinates the Economics of Sustainable Agri-food Systems Lab at Tuscia University. He conducts research on food economics and public policy, with emphasis on the interface between environment & agriculture ecosystems and socio-economic models in a development context. He carries out Ìýfieldwork activities forÌý international organizations Ìý(FAO, IFAD, IDB, and World Bank) to design investment projects focusing on sustainable farming systems and food supply chains. His country work experience includes: Croatia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Hungary, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam, Yemen and Zambia.ÌýÌý He has published many articles, the most recent ones in the areas of smallholder agricultural systems, climate change and climate-smart agriculture, climate change, investments and food security, climate change and sustainable land management.Ìý
